Bush Tucker

Bush Tucker by Julie Paige

We could jokingly refer to this painting as an Aboriginal Cookbook. In the centre are three people sitting at their campfire. They have digging sticks and coolamons at their side showing that they are females. They are probably talking of the various foods available in the surrounding lands. The honey ants, small lizards, snakes and witchetty grubs are all shown, along with some bush fruits. The footprints wandering through the paintings show the women as gatherers of these foods. The original painting is circular in form and is available as a Bulurru art panel and shirt. Bush Tucker also comes in two colours (Tan and Blue) and is available in almost every product at Bulurru.
